Special Exhibition "Jewels: Miracles Created by the Earth" x Harape Collaboration
We have created two original amber sugar varieties exclusively for the special exhibition "Jewelry."
Of the roughly 200 types of gemstones and polished stones on display at the venue, eight have been recreated in amber sugar as motifs. Red beryl, benitoite, rock crystal (Herkimer diamond), amethyst, and topaz are produced by embedding the pieces in host rock and assembling them in a balanced way to resemble real stones, but even though they may look the same, the way they are recreated is completely different.
The trapiche emeralds are made by cutting radial lines into the round cylinders one by one, and then filling the gaps with finely chopped agar, a very delicate process. Despite their beautiful and cute appearance, they are time-consuming and labor-intensive works, but we aimed for a perfection that looks like a real stone and is so good you would think it would be difficult to eat them.
